Author:

Ann H. Gabhart

This is my very first encounter with Ann H. Gabhart. I really like what I see. If I was to be an author (a secret dream of mine), I would want to write like this.

Her writing lacks any oversentimentality or emotionalism which is huge to me. Books that can wrench a tear out of me are a dime a dozen. Books that leave me yearning for something more - a longing for purity, innocence, are the ones that leave a mark upon my life. These are the ones I want to read.

Ann Gabhart is one of these golden authors. The Scent of Lilacs is the first of her books that I have read. Apparently, she has written over twelve novels for young adults and adults.

Ann resides in Kentucky with her husband, a stone's throw from the farm where she was born. They attend a country church and her husband sings bass in a quartet of Southern Gospel singers. (information taken from author page in The Scent of Lilacs)
