I am a huge fan of Mercer
Mayer's Little Critter books and this book is no exception.
It is an adorable story of little critter accompanying his
mother in to the city for the day. They encounter all kinds
of adventures - the type of things that adults would consider
possibly frustrating while raveling with a toddler but the
type of things that a toddler would consider quite an adventure.
They go to a museum, an aquarium, a fancy restaurant, a
clothes store, and in a taxi to get to the train all of
which hold their own trials and temptations for young Critter
and his mother. This is a great story about "everyday
things" that young children can relate to and older
ones will get a kick out of. Adults are sure to chuckle
as they remember experiences with the children in their
own lives. A great book!

This is a simple, but cute
story of how little critter is looking for his baseball mitt
among the mess in his room. He ends of cleaning his room (in
fact, stuffing toys and clothes where ever he can get them)
and finally finds what he's been looking for. Every parent
and child can relate to the experience of the messy room and
to the experience of looking for something you've lost which
turns into a whole adventure of its own. This book is simple
in that it has only one or two sentences per page and therefore,
is easy for a small child to sit through. The words are geared
to about the second grade level.

What child doesn't dream
of having a special relationship with a grandparent? Just
Grandma and Me is another delightful Mercer Mayer story about
a day at the beach with one Lil' Critter's favourite people,
his Grandma. Lil' Critter gets into all kinds of trouble flying
his kite, snorkelling, swimming, and has a grand time having
Grandma's undivided attention. This is another fine book in
the Lil' Critter series!
