This is a delightful and humourous tale of one shepherd boy who is grumbling about attending his "stupid" sheep on the other side of the hill from his two shepherd companions and misses the chorus of angels who appear and tell the other two shepherds to travel to Bethlehem. When he realizes he has been left and that it appears that angels have been present, he determines to gather his flock of sheep and travel to Bethlehem in search of angels. Along the way he meets some pretty crazy obstacles but it saved each time by some mysterious person who helps him along his way. One he reaches Bethlehem, he figures out just who this mysterious person is. Will he reach Bethlehem in time to witness the birth of the baby Jesus?

This is a great spin on the traditional shepherd story and was enjoyable for me to read as well as read to my son. This is a super read aloud book for those not yet able to read or just learning to read and would also be appropriate for those readers in Grade 3 and above. A great addition to the library for Christmas!!
