This was a refreshingly different
novel! It is allegorical, much like the great allegories by
C. S. Lewis et al., yet it is much different as it is told
from the point of view of a horse. A dark- coloured horse
who longs to be white and "perfect". His quest to
be unblemished is halted when he meets a mysterious guide
who draws him out of his perfection- seeking world and leads
him on a journey to finding acceptance in the only One who
can grant him the purity he longs for.
The writing is hauntingly
beautiful, full of grace and rhythm. It tells a striking lesson
of what can happen when you break free from the daily grind
of what the world dictates and take the challenge of living
a life full of adventure while seeking after God. This slim
novella is a fast-paced read and will challenge your thinking
through the telling of this unusual story.
~ Tracy
Meet a horse consumed with
appearances, longing to be all white. Addicted to pampering,
preening, and comfort, thishorse will pose in any way to hide
his dark markings. He begins a journey that will lead to the
greatest freedom he's ever known, but it will not be easy,
and some frightening obstacles soon appear. This beautiful
allegory invites you to explore what it means to break out
of complacency and live in the adventure of authentic faith.
It's a story of intuitive leadership, loyalty, calling, and
the discovery of what to rely upon and discard for life's
journey. (c) book jacket, Dark Horse,
