I'm glad a friend introduced
me to Linda Hall's books. I like that she's Canadian, and
includes Canada in many of her books. It makes me feel at
home. I also appreciate her realistic approach to faith in
her novels. In Margaret's Peace, no one has the picture-perfect,
raised in church, story-book response to tragedy. Margaret
has abandoned the church of her husband after the loss of
their eight-year-old daughter. She returns to her childhood
home to discover rumors of ghosts and a lukewarm welcome from
her relatives. She begins to question the "accidental"
death of her older sister twenty-five years earlier, and it
has a domino effect on everyone around her. Margaret has to
discern whom to trust and how to react. Will she let the pain
in her past destroy any hope for future joy, or will she allow
healing to come?
Again, Linda Hall deals with tough issues without patronizing,
and it's a great novel you won't want to put down.
