I almost had to stop reading
this book in the first chapter, because I realized it dealt
with ugly reality. I'm glad I didn't, because we can't hide
from the painful truth, even when it penetrates our "safe"
Christian circles. Sadie, mother of five and wife of the wonderful
Christian deacon, Troy, bravely faces the challenges of raising
her children. She makes every effort to keep her home a haven
for Troy when he comes home from the pressures of work, but
never can seem to do enough. Kept busy with the many demands
on her time, she finds herself isolated by lack of close friendships.
When two young girls disappear from their small community,
Sadie begins to see disturbing coincidences in her husband's
behavior.
Linda Hall has taken on a burden by writing about the secrets
we don't like to face in our protected lives. Bravo to her
for exposing this; it will encourage victims to get help and
friends to speak up. I do recommend this book. It really is
a tough one to put down!
