What a delightful little
novella that will surely tug on your heart strings this Christmas!
This is a sure fire winner as a stocking stuffer! Or maybe
you're looking for a genuine heart warming story to read after
Christmas when the lull has set in after all the excitement?
Pick up this book and you won't go wrong! Tracie Peterson
has a knack for telling a charming story, making the characters
live and breathe on the page, and drawing the reader in so
that they feel they are part of the community surrounding
the characters. This book is no exception with strong characters,
memorable descriptions, and a storyline that will weave its
spell over you!
Young Andy carries a great
burden on his young shoulders. Left behind by his deceased
parents, he takes a grim job, one which he abhors and yet
must keep at in order to make his meager living. It is wartime
and the town is mourning the loss of many of its fine young
men who are dying on the war fields. Embarrassed because he
wasn't fit to fight in the war because of his bum leg - an
injury that happened years earlier in the car accident that
claimed his father's life, Andy is further ostracized by his
job. If he thought staying home when all his peers were off
fighting the great war was worse enough, he finds that his
job as deliverer of telegrams sinks him to an even lower level.
He soon becomes known as the "bearer of bad news"
and people he's known his entire life begin avoiding him for
fear he will bring an army telegram telling of the death of
one of their own sons. He begins living out his meager existence
comprised of delivering his telegrams by day and sitting alone
in his parents home at night. That is, until he meets someone
who is in need of someone to love herself, Estella. Although
decades separate them in age, they find a kindred spirit in
one another and someone to love and care for once again. Will
Estella be able to use her wisdom and coax the town into embracing
young Andy once again?
You'll have to read this
story to find out!
