The team hopes to get into the playoffs due to the hot new Cuban pitcher Ricardo Velasquez. However his pitching arm isn’t the only thing that is super hot – so is his temper. N.J. It grieves me that it has been so long since I have been able to make an entry on the website. Thank you to those who have e-mailed expressing concern. Fortunately, there is no dark reason except for lack of time in our busy lives. Alas, I am hoping to carve out a couple hours to update many of the great books I have read this spring.
What a marvelous story by C. Hope Flinchbaugh - Across the China Sky. I have never read anything quite like it. Based on the persecution of Christians in China and the spread of the Eastern Lightning cult, this novel brings to light issues I have barely given a thought to before. Be sure to read what else I have to say about this fantastic novel in my review.
The Alabaster Cross by Richard Exley was an emotionally full novel. It was intriguing, mysterious and left you wanting more of the story. Check out what else I say in my review.

Happy New Year!
Wanda E. Brunstetter captures the essence of Amish life, as well as the angst of a childless couple and a young Amish girl's frustration with many responsibilities placed upon her young shoulders in the first book of "Daughters of Lancaster County", The Storekeeper's Daughter. Read what Tracy has to say about this novel.

The Calling of Jujubee Forthright by Scott Philip Stewart cannot be pigeon-holed as typical Christian fiction. This novel has original characters and a very unusual story line. If you are looking for a story around a very flamboyant character, this is the story for you. Check out what else I have to say about this novel in the review.

I have had
the pleasure of going on a reading blitz during
my summer holidays and have quite a few books
to review. I hope you find at least one or two
novels of interest to check out from the following
reviews.
Her Daddy's Eyes by Gary E. Parker is a delightful, quick read. I read it in one sitting and was left with a contented feeling. While some of the issues this book raises are certainly deep (effect of young soldiers going to war; parental abandonment), the book is enjoyable to read. I definitely recommend you check out what I have to say about this novel.
The Man in the Green Jeep by Viola Palmer is the story of Chico, a happy 11 year old boy living in the small Honduran village of Reitoca, with his parents and sibilings. He goes to school, helps with the chores and plays with his friends. However, his world is turned upside down by a storm that destroys all his villages corn crop, the staple of their existence. How will his village survive? Read Susan's review.
Grace Parker is sick of hearing about her Chinese heritage. She doesn’t use her Chinese name, she doesn’t want to be labelled “Chinese-Canadian”, and she only takes mandarin lessons because her adoptive father bribes her.But even she can’t escape the question of her origin – why didn’t her birth parents want her?
The Cross Examination of Oliver Finney and The Cross Examination of Jesus Christ by Randy Singer breaks the mold of Christian fiction. This author ambitiously linked these two books to one another encouraging the reader to enter a quest to find the truth by following a bunch of coded messages. If you like codes, this is the book for you! Find out what I say in my review.
Book Three, The Fragrance of Roses, in the Regalo Grande Series by Nikki Arana is the best yet! If you haven't read the Regalo Grande series, you'll want to pick up a set soon. Based on the author's own life, it is certainly a series of interesting family relationships, engaging plot, and deep emotions. Check out what else I have to say in my review.
Book 2
Book 1
Karen
Kingsbury has done it again! Like
Dandelion Dust is another sure-fire
hit among Karen Kingsbury fans and those
who will read one of her books for the first
time. Her newest release (June, 2006) is
sure to captivate you. I read my copy in
one sitting. Find out what else I have to
say about this novel in my review.
Little
Farm Down the Lane by author, Bonnie
Bedi Siegrist, is a delightful collection
of stories from the author's own life living
on a farm in Pennsylvania. Each story is
interwoven with a morality or character
lesson to be learned. This series of three
out of eight planned books is one you will
want to snatch up and read aloud to your
kids or let your independent readers read
themselves. Read what else I have to say
here.
Mix together
one overly inquisitive nine year old, a
one quadrillion dollar bill, an inept federal
agent and a dog the size of a bear and mayhem
is sure to occur! I loved this funny, original
book, Mr.
Chickee's Funny Money by Christopher
Paul Curtis, and am planning on buying
copies for Christmas presents. Read what
else Susan has to say here.
With a fast pace
and lots of twists and turns to keep the
reader guessing, it was a pleasure to
read “Not
a Trace”.
Check out what else
Susan
has to say about this novel by author,
Nora
McClintock.
Lilac

Romance Ruth
Axtell Morren has written. If you enjoy
the nineteenth century genre, then you will
want to read what I have to say about this
romance in my review.
On
the Runis
another Ivy
Malone Mystery novel by Lorena
McCourtney, that has all the trappings
of authentic mysteries - murder, mayhem
and morbid fear. The main character, Ivy,
is on the run from the Baxter family that
wants her dead. She's traveling across the
United States in her motor home meeting
unusual people along the way. She happens
upon young Abilene who needs to hide out,
too. Together they uncover a murder and
work to solve it themselves. Check out what
else I have to say about this delightful
mystery in the review.
In
the Shade of the Jacranda by Nikki
Arana is the second book in the Regalo
Grande series. It follows the lives of newlyweds
Angelica and Antonio, as they struggle to
find God's purpose and provision in their
lives. Check out what else I have to say
about this continuing saga in the review.
Comes
a Horseman is the first novel I
have read by Robert
Liparulo. I found it to be an intense,
heart racing, edge-of-your-seat kind of
read intertwined with the sorrow of loss
and joy of budding new love. Thrown into
the mix is also the Revelation / end times
theology. Check
out what else I have to say about this
very unusual, but gripping, novel.
Showdown
is the lastest fantasy thriller by Ted
Dekker due for release in February,
2006. I won't be holding my breath for the
release of this novel. Read what I have
to say here
to find out why.
Visiting
Miss Caples is the first book I've
read by author, Elizabeth
Cody Kimmel. Jenna is enjoying life
being the best friend of the most popular
girl in school. But when her best friend
wants her to do some pretty cruel things
to an unpopular girl, will Jenna choose
what's right or capitulate to her best friend?

in, as part of her assigned community project

Caples stories shed some light on the path
Jenna should choose at school? Read what
I have to say about this review here.

in the Our Canadian Girl series. I was really
impressed by this book and the serious subject
matter it dealt with. Check
out what else I have to say.

and David Munson. I thoroughly enjoyed
this book by these first time authors and

what I have to say about it.
God
Cares for Claire is one of two books
by author, Laura
Derico, published by Focus on the Family.
Check out what Susan
has to say about this Christian kid's book.
Mixed
Beasts by Wallace
Edwards is a poetry book consisting
of creatures that have been "mixed
up". Check out what Susan
has to say about this book in detail here.
Legend
of the Emerald Rose by Linda
Wichman is a true delight. Not usually
a fan of stories surrounding Knights of
the Round Table, I was hesitant in picking
up this novel. I shouldn't have been! It
was really great with deep charactes and
a charismatic love story. Read what I have
to say in my review here.
Self
Incriminationby
author, Randy
Singer, is a great mystery novel with
a solid Christian worldview. Singer is
the 2003 Christy Award Winner for best
Christian Suspense novel with his novel,
DIrected Verdict. He is definitely
an author to watch. Read what I said here
about his latest novel.
Captivating
by John
and Stasi Eldredge is one of my top
five life-changing books! It is not a fiction
book, but a book about the longings of a
woman's soul. The longing to be considered
beautiful, irresistable, captivating. I
loved this book! Check out what else I have
to say about it here.
The
Winds of Sonoma is the first novel I've
read by author, Nikki
Arana. It is based on her own true love
story with her husband. It is a strong novel
with solid writing. If you like romantic
love stories and are a true optimist, you
will enjoy this novel very much. Check out
my review here.
