Growing Families International
has come under fire by non-Christian and some Christian
groups during the past couple of years. As a result,
the Baby Wise and Child Wise books have
come under criticism as well.
I consider myself to
have good judgment, have been a Christian for many years,
and have two children. I am extremely well-read on parenting
books and have absolutely no complaint against these
books! Like all books, you tend to take what makes sense
to you and leave what you might consider not applicable
to your family. This is true of any book, t.v. or radio
program. My husband and I implemented the principles
in these books and had great success with our children.
The only problem was with our own failure and consistency
in applying the principles. Knowing that each child
is different and responds in different ways, we had
to implement different principles or implement them
in a slightly different way to be successful with our
second child as well.
These books provide
practical suggestions on how to get your baby on a flexible
schedule that works for everyone, how to encourage your
child to sleep through the night, how to handle meal
times, manners, and first time obedience. It is filled
with practical ideas. I would not hesitate to recommend
these books to any Christian parents. In addition, I
would recommend taking the parenting course, "Growing
Kids God's Way" if it is offered in your community.
