Prairie Rose is a delightful book about a young orphan girl who seizes the opportunity to travel west with a young widow and his young son, in search of a husband and family of her own. Although she doesn’t know this sullen young man, Rosie recognizes his closed heart and the loneliness of his young son, who has lost his mother and was taken from the only family he had ever known by this stranger who calls himself his father. While she attempts to give the young boy some joy and happiness, she slowly melts the heart of the young widow. While Rosie realizes she must find herself a husband before the fall when the young widow has vowed to send her back to the orphanage, should she seriously entertain the proposals from the young German who knows only a few words of English, but has clearly seen the positive attributes of young Rosie and desires her to “cook and keep house” for him on his own struggling homestead? What of her feelings for the young widow? What would God have her do? Will her impetuous decision making cause her to make a poor choice or will she seek God’s counsel and recognize the true feelings the young widow has for her and she for him?
This is an awesome story!!!!! The characters are believable and likeable. The story line is interesting and engaging. The author writes with a freshness that draws the reader in, leaving them wanting more. I wanted to read it straight through to the end! I can’t wait for the sequel! Read it and you won’t be disapointed!
