For the Miami-based “Classic Strings” quartet, the mellow tones of violin, viola, bass, and cello blend in perfect harmony. But discord fills the personal life of each member. Marissa Soliz, who plays the upright bass, has serious doubts about the new proprietor of Silkwood Kennels. In the past, her beloved Afghan always received pampered treatment there. While she’s on tour, can Marissa dare trust her dog to Jason Easton’s care? Tyronne Carver, the group’s cellist, hits a sour note when his disgruntled neighbor, Cassy Michaels, complains about the noise of his practicing. Will she ever change her tune over Tyronne? When Cynthia Powers waltzed back into Tristan Rueben’s life, his heart skips a beat. But should he set aside his viola to pursue the woman who years ago broke his heart? Eva Alano not only plays the violin, she makes them. She’s thrilled when famed violinist Giorgio Baldovino expresses an interest in more than just her work. . .but why can’t she shake that jokester, Jack Darren, from her thoughts? The Classic Strings have often performed at weddings. . .but will they ever hear strains of the “Wedding March” played for them? Can faith sustain them as they wait for the perfect harmony of love?
This was a really nice read. It wasn’t too heavy, it had interesting characters who were dealing with falling in love, trusting one another, making changes in their lives, etc. The romances weren’t extremely passionate, but left you with a feel good feeling after reading them. Kind of like, “Aw, I remember when I was that age, just falling in love.” sigh.
I really liked getting to know each quartet member in their own story. As you read one, you looked forward to moving on to the life story of the next one. As you read that, you met the other characters you already know again and it has a great continuity. What I find interesting is that there are four different authors and yet there is such continuity of characters. I am surprised that each of the characters aren’t just a little off somewhere. I wonder how the four authors co-ordinated themselves or if they had really good editors who watched the characterizations so carefully to catch anything irregular. Either way, it’s really interesting how well written each story is and how each contributes to the whole. Awesome job, ladies!
