If you were as captivated by the first book in “The Heritage of Lancaster County” series, The Shunning, you will enjoy following the story of Katie Lapp in the sequel, The Confession. The author has you following along as Katie Lapp (now Katherine Mayfield) tries to pick up the unravelled pieces of her Amish life following the revelation revealed in the first book of the series. Katherine must forsake her Amish family and friends and delve into life in the lonely, modern world as she searches for a long-lost family member. Has she made the right choice and will she be forever an outcast among the only family she has every known in the Amish community? What influence does her long-lost love, Daniel, have over the choices she struggles to make in her new life? Will she be reunited with this lost love? The author has the reader racing through the pages to discover the resolution of the turmoil that Katherine is experiencing. In spite of my angst at discovering the ending, the story is not finished in this book, as the reader must read the final work in the trilogy, The Reckoning, to discover the ultimate resolution.
