Big New York City model, Angie Harrison, leaves it all behind and returns to her small town of Julesburg, Oregon, where she becomes editor of the small newspaper, The Julesburg Herald. Not used to getting her fingers dirty, Angie gets more than blackened fingers in becoming the new editor of the two person newspaper. She is quickly drawn up into a mystery decades old centered in the decrepit Nevermore – an old, once-glamorous, theatre. While she digs around in the past, she attempts to put her own past behind her and hide out from her high powered boyfriend. She soon finds out that ignoring the past is not the way to deal with old skeletons, and must rely on her rekindling romance with an old beau to rescue her when she finds herself the object of murder herself.
